Is Your Resolution going to be a new home?

    Dec 28, 2020 9:37:05 AM

So here we go....New Year's resolutions....goals....hope for a better year....blah, blah, blah.  I am sure we all are ear weary when it comes to the words we hear surrounding the first of January, but maybe we have a tiny spark inside of us that wants to believe that something really can be better with the upcoming year.  Isn't there a tiny piece in all of us that has a spark of optimism?  While, we here at VHN can't promise you that you will lose that 10 pounds or quit smoking, we can certainly help you out with an idea you may have had.  Perhaps, over the course of this year, you realized you need a new home.

With VA Loan interest rates at record lows, now is truly the best time to upgrade.  Maybe you need a separate room for your children to do their virtual learning instead of the kitchen table.  Do you need a workout room since you can't go to the gym without wearing a mask? Maybe you just don't have any outdoor space to live in?  Did you adopt three dogs this year to keep you company, and the condo you live in just isn't cutting it? Whatever your reason, now is the time to take the bull by the horns and just get it done.

The longer you wait, the more home prices will continue to increase and interest rates are bound to go up.  Housing prices increased 7.3% this past year and inventory dropped by 22%!  That is a huge number.

Even though BAH is going to increase by 2.9% in 2021, it is evident that it will not come close to the increase in prices.  So, if you are receiving BAH while using your GI Bill, or if you are active duty, it is very wise to make your move now to get ahead of the curve.

For Veterans, it is also important to remember, even if you have a 10% disability, your funding fee will be waived on your new purchase as well.  This increases the affordability of your new home even more. If you have questions as to how much home you can afford, reach out to us here at VHN and we will match you up with a local lender that will answer all of your lending questions and steer you in the best direction.

Over the years, I have seen too many comrades wait to buy or upgrade. It almost seems that reaching out is like asking for help, and we all like to think we don't need help from anyone!  But this is the one thing that is totally cool to ask for help with. Whether you are worried about too much debt, too low of credit, or you are just unsure where to begin, remember, we have all been there and done that. We understand.

So this year, I mean NOW, make the decision to begin to live in a home that makes you happy and meets all of your needs. If you need to sell to buy, we can help.  If you are renting and want to buy for the first time, we can help.  If you are just leaving the military and getting ready to go back to school, we can help. If your family has just simply outgrown your home, we can help. Reach out and take care of your needs and make a plan for a better 2021!
